Abhramu

Asteroid 9172, Abhramu, an Amor asteroid, was discovered on July 29, 1989 by Carolyn S. Shoemaker and Eugene M. Shoemaker at Palomar Mountain Observatory near Pauma Valley, California. It has a period of 4 years, 165 days.

It was named for a figure from Hindu mythology, Abhramu, the "cloud-knitter", the original female elephant. She was a supernatural winged being who could change her shape at will, like the clouds that resemble her children. Abhramu's tribe eventually lost both its wings and its magic.

Astrologically, Abhramu seems to have to do with shape-shifter, protean, losing one's mojo by misfortune, possibly elephants.
