Anteros

Asteroid 1943, Anteros, was discovered on March 13, 1973 by James Gibson at El Leoncito, San Juan, Argentina. It has a period of 1 year, 259 days and is about 1 and 7/10 mile in diameter.

It was named for Anteros, the brother of Eros in Greek mythology and the god of requited love and punisher of scorned love.

Astrologically, Anteros seems to indicate rejection, not being loved.

Would-be presidential assassin John Hinckley thought shooting President Ronald Reagan would impress Jodie Foster, who he was stalking, and would have shot Reagan's immediate predecessor Jimmy Carter but couldn't get to him. Hinckley has Anteros in the fourth house, on the IC, sextile Jupiter, trine the Moon, opposite the Midheaven, and parallel Sun and Uranus.

Aileen Wuornos was rejected by her parents, then by her grandparents who had raised her, became homeless, turned to prostitution, and began murdering men after being abused by a john; she was turned in by her lesbian partner and executed by the state of Florida despite strong evidence that she was mentally ill. She had Anteros conjunct Mars and sextile Neptune.

Famed serial killer Ed Gein, whose mother forbade him to make friends or have normal relationships with women, had Anteros in the tenth house, sesquiquadrate Saturn and Ceres and contraparallel the Sun.

British writer John Ruskin, who had serious sexual problems and had his marriage annulled on the grounds that it was never consummated, had Anteros sextile Mars.

Former US attorney general Janet Reno, who has never married and managed to alienate both her boss Bill Clinton and his political enemies through her principled, consistent, nonpolitical and evenhanded application of the law, has Anteros parallel Sun and Mars.

The glyph for Anteros is mine.
