Avila, Spain
A celebrated Los Angeles murder case of the 1980s involved 17-year-old Michele "Missy" Avila, who was murdered by being beaten and submerged in a creek by her two so-called best friends, Karen Severson and Laura Doyle, who'd known her since she was little and who accused her of sleeping with their boyfriends. They made public expressions of grief and support and Severson even moved into Missy's mother's house, disgusting a sibling of Missy, who knew that Severson had been issuing threats against her before her death, but the whole truth came out two years later and both Severson and Doyle went to prison for a long time. It has been reported, though, that Missy Avila was no saint: she has been characterized as a bully, a snob and an anti-Semite. Nevertheless, she was murdered and her murderers needed to face justice, and her personality and character was not relevant.
The meaning of asteroid Avila seems to be: seen as sacrosanct by blind uncritical followers;sympathy/affection making people blind to the unattractive truth; unattractive truth not being relevant; justice for all.
