Asteroid 38086, Beowolf, was discovered on May 5, 1999 by the Lowell Observatory Near-Earth Object Search (LONEOS) at the Anderson Mesa Station of Lowell Observatory near Flagstaff, Arizona. It has a period of 1 years, 253 days.

It was named for the great Scandinavian warrior Beowulf, hero of the early medieval British epic poem.

Astrologically, asteroid Beowolf seems to indicate to struggle with, to overcome, to deal with monsters.

Eliot Ness, who became famous as head of the federal law-enforcement task force The Untouchables which busted Al Capone, had Beowolf quincunx Pandora (making a splash).

Atheist activist Madalyn Murray O'Hair, who (along with her family) endured incredible abuse from Christians who felt threatened by her views, had Beowolf in the fourth house, square Venus (indignation) and opposite Hidalgo (to promote, assert or defend) and Chaos (a new paradigm).

Salman Rushdie, who spent a big chunk of his life in hiding because Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini didn't like one of his novels and put out a contract on his life, as it were, has Beowolf in the third house of writings, on the IC, trine Jupiter (publishing, religion), Pallas (politics) and Chariklo (celebrity, evoking emotion).

Famed Nazi-hunter Simon Wiesenthal had Beowolf in the first house, conjunct the Ascendant, square the Midheaven and trine Juno (the powerless, defending human rights).

Texas college professor Guadalupe Quintanilla, who overcame institutionalized narrow-mindedness, restricted educational opportunity as a child, and discrimination against Hispanics to graduate from college, has Beowolf quincunx Nessus (old and privileged, toxic) and opposite Saturn (hard work and discipline).

Dissident Russian scientist Andrei Sakharov, who once stood virtually alone against the ruthless Soviet establishment, had Beowolf conjunct Saturn and Ixion, square Pallas and Pholus (to permeate; seen as foolish), quincunx Damocles (brinkmanship; in constant danger), and opposite Hylonome (the cry of the people).

Influential crime victims' activist John Walsh has Beowolf sextile Saturn, square Elatus (vividly and eloquently expressed), trine Pholus (viral transmission; permeating the environment) and opposite Chaos.

The glyph for Beowulf is mine.
