Asteroid 5797, Bivoj, an Amor asteroid, was discovered on January 13, 1980 by Antonin Mrkos at Klet Observatory near Ceske Budejovice,South Bohemia, Czech Republic. It has a period of 2 years, 221 days and is about one quarter of a mile (0.4 kilometers) in diameter.
It is named for the ancient Bohemian mythological hero Bivoj. (Bohemia is a region in what is now the Czech Republic.) With his bare hands, Bivoj fought and defeated a huge wild boar that was ravaging his people and destroying their crops. He later married Kazi, the oldest daughter of Prince Krok.
