Asteroid 1543, Bourgeois, was discovered on September 21. 1941 by Eugene Delporte at the Royal Observatory of Belgium at Uccle, Belgium. It has a period of 4 years, 100 days and is slightly less than 11 1/2 miles in diameter.
It was named for Belgian astronomer Paul Bourgeois.
Astrologically, asteroid Bourgeois seems to be about being boring, according to Henk Middelraad; possibly bourgeois or having to do with the bourgeoisie.
