Asteroid 3306, Byron, was discovered on September 24, 1979 by Natalya Chernykh at Nauchnyj, Ukraine. It has a period of 3 years, 135 days.

It was named for British poet George Gordon, 6th Baron Byron (1788-1824), usually called Lord Byron, who was the author of "Don Juan," "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage" and many other well-known and well-loved poems. He was the father of mathematician and pioneering computer scientist Ada Lovelace.
