De Schepper

Asteroid 154714, de Schepper, was discovered on June 6, 2004 by Peter De Cat at the Royal Observatory of Belgium at Uccle, Belgium. It has a period of 3 years, 325 days.

It was named for Mieke de Schepper (1943-2003), the mother of Belgian astronomer Joris Blommaert, who suggested the name; she died of breast cancer after battling the disease for 16 years (since 1987).

The meaning of asteroid De Schepper seems to be: God, creation (Henk Middelraad); possibly, to be a "shepherd" (literally or metaphorically), to battle afflictions (including illnesses) bravely, breast cancer.
