Asteroid 541, Deborah, was discovered August 4, 1904 by Maximilian Wolf at Heidelberg, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. Deborah has a period of 4 years, 264 days and is about 42½ miles in diameter.

It was named for one of the better-known characters from the Bible's Old Testament, Deborah, a prophet who helped to free the Israelites from the Canaanites, and celebrated the victory with a famous poem known as the Song of Deborah. She is mentioned in chapters 4 and 5 of the book of Judges.

Deborah means "bee" in Hebrew.

Astrologically, Deborah seems to indicate expression of power, defiance, or beliefs..

Ronald Reagan had Deborah in the sixth house, semisquare Saturn (work, career, rewards and consequences), square Pallas (politics), trine the Sun (leadership) and Chaos, biquintile Mercury (ideas, writing, speaking), and contraparallel Uranus (to energize a movement).

George W. Bush has Deborah in the fifth house of self-expression (and fun), quintile Moon (the public), Juno (giving away one's power) and Chiron (ingenious, the door-opener), trine Varuna (aggrandizement, grown huge, judgmental), quindecile the Sun and opposite Asbolus (awful things).

Survivalist James "Bo" Gritz (born January 18, 1939, in Enid, Oklahoma) has Deborah sextile Juno (the rage of the self-disempowered), Lilith (marginalized) and Cruithne (stigmatized) and opposite Elatus (eloquent expression).

Boris Yeltsin has Deborah trine Lilith (resigned to dealing with something).

Lech Walesa had Deborah conjunct Asbolus (bad experiences, advice given but not taken) and sextile Hylonome (the cry of the people, popular support) and Varuna.

Indonesian president Megawati Sukarnoputri has Deborah sextile Venus (values, socialization) and Juno and trine Ixion (creativity, lust for something).

Corazon Aquino has Deborah in the second house, decile the Moon, quincunx Chariklo (glamorized), parallel the North Node (to transcend the past), and contraparallel Neptune (idealism) and the South Node (past influences).

Dennis Tito, the first space tourist, has Deborah conjunct Pallas (industry, technology), semisextile the Sun, sextile Juno, Vesta (dedication) and Elatus, trine Jupiter (prosperity, long-distance travel), Saturn and Pholus, and opposite Ixion.
