Derevskaya


Asteroid 2400 Derevskaya was discovered on September 17, 1972 by Tamara Smirnova at Nauchnyj, Ukraine in the Crimea. It has a period of 5 years, 75 days and is slightly less than 8 1/2 miles in diameter.

It was named for a Russian woman Alexandra Derevskaya (nee Semyonova; 1902-1959), who raised 48 orphans of different nationalities along with her husband Yemelyan during World War II.
