Esther

Asteroid 622, Esther, was discovered on November 13, 1906 by Joel H. Metcalf at Taunton, Massachusetts. It has a period of 3 years, 277 days and is about 13 3/5 miles in diameter.

It was likely named for the heroine of the Book of Esther in the Old Testament, Esther (Hadassah), the wife of King Xerxes I (called Ahasuerus in the Bible), who intervened to thwart a plotted massacre of her people.
