Asteroid 8558, Hack, was discovered August 1, 1995 by Luciano. Tesi and Andrea Boattini at the Pistoia Mountains Astronomical Observatory in San Marcello Piteglio (formerly San Marcello Pistoiese), Pistoia province, Italy. It has a period of 5 years, 188 days and is about 4 3/4 miles in diameter.
It was named after an Italian astronomer, Margherita Hack (1922-2013).
