Hadrianus

Asteroid 7446, Hadrianus, was discovered on September 29, 1973 by CJ van Houten, Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld, and Tom Gehrels at Palomar Mountain Observatory. It has a period of 5 years, 187 days.

It was named for the Roman emperor Publius Aelius Hadrianus (76-138), better known to history as Hadrian, who was adopted by the Emperor Trajan and who became his successor in 117. The Roman empire had been expanding until Hadrian perceived that the time had come to stop trying to acquire new territory for the empire and start strengthening what the empire already had instead. He built roads, aqueducts, and new cities and fortified the empire's borders, most notably with Hadrian's Wall, which lies along the border between England and Scotland.

Emperor Hadrian

The influence of asteroid Hadrianus seems to be trying to shut out or wall off, giving up on asserting dominance, drawing a line under something.
