Asteroid 9305, Hazard, was discovered on October 7, 1986 by Edward "Ted" Bowell at the Anderson Mesa unit of the Lowell Observatory near Flagstaff, Arizona. It has a period of 3 years, 68 days and is 1 4/5 miles in diameter.
It was named for British radio astronomer Cyril Hazard (born 1928). His work includes, among other things, the first detection of radio waves from an extragalactic source.
Cyril Hazard
The meaning of asteroid Hazard seems to be, according to Henk Middelraad: hazards. Perhaps also, receiving signals or transmissions from far beyond (see Jansky).
