Hutton

Asteroid 6130, Hutton, was discovered on September 24, 1989 by Robert H. McNaught at Siding Spring Observatory near Coonabarabran, New South Wales, Australia. It has a period of 5 years, 48 days.

It was named for British scientist James Hutton (1726-1797), who was one of the key figures of the Scottish Enlightenment. He introduced the concept of deep time (processes happening over millions or billions of years) to modern science, demonstrating that Earth, rather than being only a few thousand years old as thought by Bible-influenced people, was actually billions of years old.

James Hutton

There was once a Wall Street securities firm called EF Hutton and Company, formed by Edward Francis Hutton (no relation to James Hutton), which in the 1970s and 1980s had the advertising slogan, "When EF Hutton talks, people listen."

Astrologically, asteroid Hutton seems to have to do with commanding attention or respect, also, formation by inner heat, the present being key to the past, deep time, things that are ancient or that evolve over a long period of time (Francesco Schiavinotto).

The glyph for Hutton is my own conception and is a symbol for time.
