Asteroid 2291, Johnpardon, was discovered on October 4, 1999 by the Lincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) Team at Socorro, New Mexico. It has a period of 3 years, 100 days.

It was named for Durham, North Carolina high-school student and science-fair contestant John Pardon (born 1989), whose math project made him a finalist in the 2007 Intel Science Talent Search.
