
Asteroid 5140, Kida, was discovered on December 8, 1990 by Seiji Ueda and Hiroshi Kaneda in Kushiro, Hokkaido, Japan. It has a period of 5 years, 239 days and is slightly over 12 miles in diameter.
It was named for Japanese painter Kinjiro Kida (1893-1962), a native of Hokkaido, known for his landscapes and impressionistic style.
