Kosmaczewski


Asteroid 15609, Kosmaczewski, was discovered on April 7, 2000 by the Lincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) Team at Socorro, New Mexico. It has a period of 3 years, 155 days and is about 2 1/2 miles in diameter.

It was named for Hamden, Connecticut middle school student Sara Guckian Kosmaczewski (born 1987), who was a finalist in the 2001 Discovery Young Scientist Challenge (DYSC) science competition.
