Kwiila

Asteroid 9162, Kwiila, an Apollo asteroid, was discovered on July 29, 1987 by Jean E. Mueller at Palomar Observatory near Pauma Valley, California. It has a period of 1 year, 303 days.

It was named for Kwiila (Black Oak), one of the First People (second-generation gods) in the mythology of the Luiseño Native American tribe of southern California. Black oak trees are found on Palomar Mountain, where the Luiseño traditionally gathered acorns in the summer.

Astrologically, asteroid Kwiila seems to signify strong and nurturing, the strength of nature, "all-natural" living or nourishment.
