Asteroid 2041 Lancelot was discovered on September 24, 1960 by C.J. Van Houten and Ingrid Van Houten-Groeneveld at Palomar Observatory near Pauma Valley, California.

It was named for a character in the Arthurian cycle of legends, Sir Lancelot, a Knight of the Round Table, who was caught in an adulterous affair with King Arthur's wife, Queen Guinevere. The name is believed to be French for "servant" or to derive from the name of the Irish sun god Lug, also known as Lamfada.

Sir Lancelot

Lancelot has a period of 5 years, 215 days and is about 9.9 miles in diameter.

Astrologically, Lancelot indicates playing the hero due to circumstances, not because one is looking to be a hero; playing the "knight in shining armor"; adultery; "caught with one's pants down."

Firefighters—the nation's new heroes.

More of the nation's new heroes—police officers.

Winston Churchill had Lancelot prominent—on the IC and conjunct Venus(and Hidalgo, Fisher, Hektor, Ramirez and Volta). He also had Lancelot sextile Whiterabbit; square Heracles, the Vertex, the East Point and Dominiona; trine the Moon, Neptune and Pallas; and parallel Demokritos. He was one of the first politicians to see Adolf Hitler for what he really was. Churchill was British prime minister during World War II, when German bombs rained down upon Britain daily and the country had taken on Hitler almost single-handedly.

Some of the nation's other heroes—Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin and Michael Collins. They dared to journey across space to the moon in 1969. Armstrong and Aldrin were the first to set foot on the moon(in that order), two of only twelve to do so. One day there may be more.

Princess Diana also had Lancelot prominent: on the Descendant(in the seventh house), and also square Pallas and Juno; trine the Moon, Ixion, South Node and MC; sesquiquadrate Neptune; and opposite Magnanimity. She used her great fame and wealth to improve the lot of the unfortunate, yet her memory also includes, among other things, the his-and-hers adulterous liaisons formed in her loveless, turbulent, doomed political marriage to Prince Charles.

Donna Rice with former Colorado senator and 1988 presidential candidate Gary Hart. Perhaps for him his extramarital relationship with her was worth it; in any case, it cost him his political career.

Pioneering aviator Amelia Earhart had Lancelot in the ninth house of long-distance travel, conjunct Pinocchio; undecimal Hatshepsut; semisquare Saturn and Uranus; sextile Hidalgo, Nessus and Persephone; trine Mars, Jupiter, and Chiron; sesquiquadrate Juno; quincunx Asbolus and Volta; and opposite Don Quixote. Bill Clinton, a well-known fighter for average Joes and Janes who is also known for the adulterous relationships he has had, has Lancelot in the first house, conjunct Chiron, sextile Pittsburghia, square Stephengould, Thersander, Philoctetes, and Bandersnatch, trine Uranus, Atanasoff and McAuliffe, quincunx Persephone, and opposite the Vertex.

The glyph for Lancelot is my own conception.
