It was named for Duncan, Oklahoma high-school student and science-fair contestant Tiffany Amelia Legg (born 1987), who was a finalist in the 2002 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for her earth and space sciences project, "Mars or Bust,II: Further Investigation of Selected Exploration Sites Based on Radiation Exposure Prevention".

Tiffany Legg

The meaning of asteroid Legg seems to be having to do with legs, something that "has legs," to walk, to run, to leave.
