Asteroid 4792 Lykaon, a Trojan asteroid, was discovered on September 10, 1988 by Carolyn S. Shoemaker at Palomar Observatory near Pauma Valley, California. It has a period of 12 years, 35 days.
It was named for the Trojan prince Lykaon, a son of Priam who was captured by Achilles while pruning his father's orchard during the Trojan War and sold into slavery. Lykaon was bought by someone else who brought him back to Troy, only to be killed shortly thereafter by Achilles during his rage over the death of Patroclus.
Astrologically, asteroid Lykaon seems to be about failure to escape, blocked escape, "out of the frying pan into the fire"; possibly, overwhelmed by an adversary.
