McDonalda

Asteroid 991, McDonalda, was discovered on October 24, 1922 by Otto Struve at Williams Bay, Wisconsin. It has a period of 5 years,216 days and is 31.41 kilometers (about 19 1/2 miles) in diameter.

It was named for McDonald Observatory in Fort Davis, Texas, and for its namesake, William Johnson McDonald (1844-1926), a wealthy attorney and banker from Paris, Texas whose bequest to the University of Texas made it possible to establish the observatory, which was set up (along with the astronomy department at the University of Texas at Austin) with the help of Otto Struve, a professor at the University of Chicago.

The meaning of asteroid McDonalda seems to be (it has been said): for the masses, just like everyone or everything else, impersonal, mass-produced, fast food, jobs that are low paying and offer few or no benefits .
