Sarpedon


Asteroid 2223, Sarpedon, a Jupiter Trojan, was discovered on October 4, 1977 at the Purple Mountain Observatory in Nanjing, China. It has a period of 11 years, 332 days and is about 70 1/2 miles in diameter.

It was named for one of the leaders of the Lycians, Sarpedon, who was killed by Patroclus in the Trojan War. At the command of Zeus, his body was seized by Apollo and returned to Lycia.

Astrologically, Sarpedon seems to indicate at the pleasure of someone or something else, for however long they want; bringing something to an end; talking someone out of something .
