Smirnova


Asteroid 5540, Smirnova, was discovered August 30, 1971 by Tamara M. Smirnova at Nauchnyj, Ukraine, in the Crimea.. It has a period of 4 years, 67 days and is about 2 1/4 miles in diameter.

It was named for its discoverer, Russian astronomer Tamara M. Smirnova (1935-2001), at the suggestion of her former employer, the Institute of Theoretical Astronomy at St. Petersburg, in 1995.

Astrologically, asteroid Smirnova seems to indicate to make oneself feel better (Damien Foor), to anesthetize, family values, pain of the past, washed up, a relic, hanging on, "Fifties-ish."
