Asteroid 4865, Sor, was discovered October 18, 1988 by Tsutomo Seki (co-discoverer of 1965's Great Comet Comet Ikeya-Seki) at Geisei Observatory in Geisei, Kochi, Japan. It has a period of 5 years, 119 days.

It was named for the Spanish guitarist and composer Fernando Sor (1778-1839).
