Taco

Asteroid 14917, Taco, was discovered on January 8, 1994 by the Spacewatch project at Kitt Peak Observatory near Sells, Arizona. Taco has a period of 4 years, 289 days.

It was named for Kenneth Dale "Taco" Cockrell (born in 1950), a NASA shuttle astronaut.

The taco, a corn or flour tortilla filled with cooked ground beef, chopped onions and tomatoes, and cheese, is a popular Tex-Mex dish often served at fast-food restaurants and sometimes disparaged as unauthentic as far as Mexican cuisine goes. Taco Bell's famous Chihuahua dog, who barked Yo quiero Taco Bell (I want Taco Bell) in the fast-food chain's commercials, became an instant cultural icon but was criticized because human actors of Hispanic ancestry had difficulty finding work befitting their talent (at least in roles not reflecting racial stereotypes) on major US network TV shows.

Tio taco is an insult among American Hispanics synonymous with "Uncle Tom."

This seems to inform the meaning of asteroid Taco: turning against others to fit in, ingratiate oneself or succeed; collaboration with those regarded as the enemy; lack of authenticity or sincerity; need to determine where one's best interest lies., possibly Mexican food.
