The ingrate

by

Felipe Maximiliano Chacon

If you have had disappointments in life,

you have also been a casual witness

to some ingrate you thought was a friend;

he was helpless in the past;

treading on a thousand thorns as he walked,

and you gave him a coat like a father.

And did you help him when he was a beggar?

Wait, then, for the coming years:

If one day destiny raises him up

and you are overwhelmed by ill fate and bad luck,

this one that lacks a human heart

won't even look at you, his benefactor,

and if the world stings you with stones

He'll throw his stone at you right along with them!
