Asteroid 28130, Troemper, was discovered on September 26, 1998 by the Lincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) Team at Socorro, New Mexico. It has a period of 3 years, 229 days.

It was named for Springfield, Illinois middle-school teacher Brett Troemper, who mentored a finalist in the 2012 Broadcom MASTERS, a math and science competition for middle-school students.
