Tselina

Asteroid 2111, Tselina, was discovered on June 13, 1969 by Tamara M. Smirnova at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory. It has a period of 5 years, 88 days and is 24.5 kilometers (about 15 1/5 miles) in diameter.

Tselina is Russian for "virgin soil"; this asteroid was named on the 25th anniversary of the Virgin Lands Campaign, a program launched by Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev in 1953 to boost Soviet agricultural production by cultivating fallow and hitherto uncultivated land.

The meaning of asteroid Tselina seems to be: virgin soil, spirit of exploitation, environmentalism vs. exploitation, turned loose.
