Van Sprang


Asteroid 3098, van Sprang,was discovered on September 24, 1960 by C.J. van Houten, Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels at Palomar Observatory near Pauma Valley, California. It has a period of 3 years, 180 days.

It was named for Bert van Sprang, a Dutch amateur astronomer and astronomy popularizer.

Astrologically, asteroid van Sprang seems to indicate surprised with something, to pounce upon, to be released ("sprung") .
