Asteroid 21649, Vardhana, was discovered on July 13, 1999 by the Lincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research Team at Socorro, New Mexico. It has a period of 4 years, 185 days.

It was named for Portland, Oregon high school student Anarghya Vardhana (born 1988), who got second place in the 2006 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for her mathematics project.
