Asteroid 28366, Verkuil, was discovered on April 9, 1999 by the Lincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) Team at Socorro, New Mexico. It has a period of 4 years, 164 days, and is slightly less than 4 1/2 miles in diameter.
It was named for Wappingers Falls, New York high school student and science-fair contestant Robert Huntington Verkuil (born 1994) was awarded second place in the 2011 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for his electrical and mechanical engineering project.
Astrologically, asteroid Verkuil seems to signify difference (Henk Middelraad).
