Asteroid 233967, Vierkant, was discovered on January 24, 2010 by Rainer Kracht at Sierra Stars Observatory near Markleeville, California. It has a period of 4 years, 206 days.

It was named for Kracht's mother, Gisela Vierkant (born 1919), of Bremen, Germany, where Pallas and Vesta were discovered.

Vierkant is Dutch for "square," and can also mean "squarely," "flatly," "smack" or "slap."

The meaning of asteroid Vierkant, according to Henk Middelraad, seems to be related to this: "square" or "opposing opinion."
