Asteroid 4921, Volonte, was discovered on September 29, 1980 by Zdenka Vavrova at Klet Observatory in the Czech Republic. It has a period of 3 years, 273 days.
It was named for the distinguished Italian actor Gian Maria Volonte (1933-1994); the MPC naming citation mentions his role in Giordano Bruno (1973), which chronicles the last years of the 16th-century Italian philosopher by that name and in which Volonte played the title role. He is better known in the US for his roles in the "spaghetti Westerns" A Fistful of Dollars (1964), in which he played Ramon, and For A Few Dollars More (1965), in which he played El Indio; both movies also starred Clint Eastwood as The Man With No Name.

The astrological meaning of asteroid Volonte seems to be: coaching (according to Damien Foor), also, under one's own power; pushed forward, or out.
