Asteroid 283142, Weena, was discovered on December 29, 2008 by Erwin Schwab and Rainer Kling at Taunus Observatory near Frankfurt-am-Main, Hesse, Germany. It has a period of 4 years, 104 days.
It was named for Weena, the major female character in the 1895 novel "The Time Machine" by British writer H. G. Wells. Weena is an Eloi, a member of the attenuated, helpless leisure class in a time in the distant future, who are preyed on by the Morlocks, who are the working class; there is a tragic love story between Weena and the novel's protagonist, known simply as the Time Traveller.
Astrologically, asteroid Weena seems to indicate winning (Henk Middelraad) .
