Willnelson

Asteroid 22005, Willnelson, was discovered on December 7, 1999 by the Lincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) Team at Socorro, New Mexico. It has a period of 5 years, 83 days.

It was named for Citrus Springs, Florida middle school teacher William Nelson, who mentored a finalist in the 2005 Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge (DCYSC).

The meaning of asteroid Willnelson, though, seems to be informed by a much better known individual with a similar name, veteran country singer/songwriter Willie Nelson:"on the road again," "kicking back," laid back, outlaw, slacking, (possibly) marijuana smoking.
