Asteroid 43293, Banting, was discovered on April 1, 2000 by John Broughton at Reedy Creek, Queensland, Australia. It is a main-belt asteroid with a period of 5 years, 230 days.

It was named for Canadian medical scientist Frederick G. Banting (1891-1941), co-discoverer of insulin.
