Asteroid 6517, Buzzi, was discovered on January 21, 1990 by Eleanor F. "Glo" Helin at Palomar Observatory near Pauma Valley, California. It has a period of 2 years, 246 days.

It was named for Italian amateur astronomer Luca Buzzi (born 1982), a specialist in observing comets and minor planets from Schiaparelli Observatory.
