Giant waves that break with a roar

by

Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer

Giant waves that break with a roar

on shores deserted and remote,

wrapped in a sheet of foam,

carry me away with you!

Hurricane gusts that bear off

the withered leaves from the tall wood,

dragging a whirlwind across the sky,

carry me away with you!

Storm clouds that the lightning breaks,

and that decorate your torn fringes with fire,

carry me away with you,

dragged off among the dark mists!

Take me, out of pity, to that place where dizziness

will take away my memory...

Out of pity!...I am frightened to remain

alone here with my grief!
