Asteroid 22981, Katz, was discovered on November 3, 1999 by the Lincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) Team at Socorro, New Mexico. It has a period of 3 years, 176 days.
It was named for American high school student and science fair contestant Daniel Katz (born 1988) of Lawrence, New York, who was a finalist in the 2007 Intel Science Talent Search for a project involving nanotechnology in cancer treatment conducted with fellow student Vikas Murali of Connecticut.

Daniel Katz

The meaning of asteroid Katz (it has been said) seems to be what its name suggests: cats, having to do with cats (Morgana).
