Asteroid 22996, De Boo, was discovered on November 4, 1999 by the Lincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research Team (LINEAR) at Socorro, New Mexico. It has a period of 4 years, 346 days.

It was named for Providence, Rhode Island science teacher Edward de Boo, who mentored a finalist in the 2007 Intel Science Talent Search (STS).
