Asteroid 10811, Lau, was discovered March 17, 1993 at the European Southern Observatory in the course of the Uppsala-ESO Survey of Asteroids and Comets. It has a period of 5 years, 5 days.

It was named for the village of Lau, Gotland, Sweden, which has a Lutheran church built as a Catholic church in the early 13th century which is noted for the long resonating echo of its church bell (as much as twelve seconds).
