Montezuma


Asteroid 2272, Montezuma, was discovered on March 16, 1972 by Tom Gehrels at Palomar Mountain Observatory. It has a period of 2 years, 201 days and is about 3 1/3 miles in diameter.

It was named for Moctezuma II (aka Motecuhzoma Xocoyotzin or Montezuma)(1466?-1520), last ruler of the Aztec Empire.
