Fragments

Do not disdainfully criticize

what you see another do,

because everything is not malicious

as it often seems.

There are things that are harmless,

children of good intention,

which are made harmful

through bad interpretation;

and there are joys that are sorrows

under the surface,

and things that are good

that look bad on the surface.

Judging at first glance

can amount to calumny;

in the affairs of life

the worth is in the intention.
